Our History

ZOO Hardware was established in Carlisle in 2009 with the aim of supplying unique, quality hardware for the discerning customer.

Today we are one of the best and most proactive hardware manufacturers in our industry with knowledge from all sectors that we can use to help our customers transform their business and recognise their goals.

From three employees in a portable cabin within a decade, ZOO had become a multi‐million pound business and our products feature in some of the country’s most striking buildings. Architects and contractors across the country now rely on us for attractive, design‐led hardware that represents outstanding value for money without ever compromising on quality. Our wide range of products mean that we can always offer the right hardware solution whatever the project or application. Our acquisition by UK security expert ERA in 2018 started a new chapter in our history. We have invested yet more in innovation and new technology. We have developed new, stand out products. We’re now applying our skills and expertise to design led hardware; influencing interiors not only for commercial properties but also residential projects. We’re also working on a suite of products that will appeal to a broader market, enabling us to further extend our reputation for high quality hardware at affordable prices.
